Subtasks and Task Detail
How to use subtasks, descriptions, comments, priorities, labels, and other task properties in Krokanti Tasks.
Every task in Krokanti Tasks has a full detail panel where you can manage all of its properties.
Opening the Task Detail Panel
Click any task card (in kanban view) or any task row (in list view) to open the detail panel. It slides in from the right side of the screen.
To open a task in a focused full-screen modal instead, click the expand icon in the top-right corner of the detail panel.
Task Properties
Title and Description
The task title is always visible on cards and in lists. The description is a rich text editor — you can add:
- Headers, bold, italics, lists
- Code blocks and inline code
- Blockquotes
- Tables
- Checklists (inside the description)
The description is for context, notes, and reference material. It doesn't affect task status.
Status
The status determines which kanban column the task appears in. You can change status directly from the detail panel — you don't need to drag the card.
Priority
Five levels: No priority, Low, Medium, High, Urgent.
Priority appears as a colored indicator on kanban cards and as a sortable column in list view. Use priority to communicate the order tasks should be worked on.
Due Date and Start Date
Set a due date when there's a real deadline. Set a start date to plan when work will begin.
Tasks with a due date in the past (overdue) are highlighted in red. Tasks due within 48 hours are highlighted in orange.
Assignees
Assign a task to one or more team members. Assignees see assigned tasks in their personal view. On the free plan (single user), you can only assign tasks to yourself.
Multiple assignees are supported, but for accountability, we recommend one primary owner per task.
Labels
Labels are custom tags you create per project. Add labels to group related tasks, mark by type (bug, feature, chore), or track work by component.
Create labels in Project settings → Labels. Each label has a name and color.
Subtasks
Subtasks are tasks nested inside a parent task. They're one level deep — you can't create subtasks of subtasks.
To add a subtask:
- Open the task detail panel.
- Scroll to the Subtasks section.
- Click Add subtask and type a title.
Subtasks can have their own:
- Status (independent of the parent)
- Priority
- Due date
- Assignees
The parent task shows a progress indicator based on how many subtasks are complete.
Use subtasks to break down work that's larger than a day or two. If a parent task has more than 7–8 subtasks, consider splitting it into multiple top-level tasks.
Comments
Add comments to discuss the task, ask questions, or post updates. Comments support rich text (bold, links, lists, code).
Comments appear in the Comments tab of the task detail panel, along with the activity log.
